During the years of aggression against the Gaza Strip, the Beit Lahia Development Association implemented several recreational and psychosocial support activities for children in shelters as part of its commitment to protecting children and upholding their rights amid harsh humanitarian conditions.
As part of these efforts, dozens of leisure days were planned under the direction of a specialized group of facilitators and performers. The goal was to create safe spaces that would help the children recover from the psychological stress and trauma they had endured due to war, displacement, and the loss of their sense of security.
The group stressed that these initiatives are a result of its conviction that children, even in the most trying situations, have an innate right to play, education, independence, and a dignified life. Given its immediate impact on fostering children’s mental health, assisting them in expressing their emotions, and strengthening their resilience, it also confirmed that psychosocial and recreational assistance is a crucial component of its emergency interventions.
